TEACHING... a hard task

When it comes to Teaching everything seems to be awesome for some people because they imagine teachers as the greatest person ever and they might not be wrong; Teachers are the most creative people in the world. However, when you realize about the multiple-tasks person we, as teachers, must be, the thing starts changing. We love doing and creating, but honestly not much checking and when on the path of looking for newer and newer things to offer to our classes we sometimes feel there is no more to do, though we know we have everything in our minds and so it is just to think for a minute and that´s it we got it!!!

Anyway, to avoid feeling with no options to offer  it is important to update our personal-activity box which you can easily get by just reading some more, finding out on books and websites or simply  searching about new topics. The more we read and look for new things, the greater our options will be giving you the chance to feel released and confortable whenever you have to present a new topic.

Remember, it is not about you doing the best activity, it is about students enjoying and finding it useful.

Happy New Year: I hope that 2013 is full of joy, health and tranquility for all of us!!! Best wishes for you all...

wow!!! I know I have been out from here for so long, but the fact I haven't published anything doesn't mean that I had forgotten my own blog... In fact I have been studying and practising in order to improve and learn even more... well... Just want to invite you to keep on using this blog for your own learning (learning by doing means learning by practising and so on learning by yourself) while enjoying doing it.

I'll show here some activities and pieces of work that I have had students do by showing their creativity and joy while learning English.

Such activities have been done for so long, but I just decided to post them to show how you can learn at the same time you study.

Be attentive!!!

See you around!

Translation and Vocabulary Activity...

Translating is a good way to practise your knowledge and skills in the foreign language because it helps you to use the structures you have previously relating them to the new words or vocabulary you start looking up. Besides, it might get you to think the way you should say some ideas or thoughts as many manners as possible, but broadly in the best possible one.

It might be very useful when learners need the security of the mother tongue and the opportunity to relate grammatical structures to mother tongue equivalents (released from wikipedia). Said in other words, it makes pupils practise English structures with their own language by helping them to interpretate and assimilate. :s

Well, that was only for you to have an idea about how this method helps you in your English learning process...
SO DON'T GET BORED PLEASE!!!

THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME SENTENCES/STATEMENTS IN SPANISH FOR YOU TO TRANSLATE THEM INTO ENGLISH IN ORDER TO PRACTISE THE BEST POSSIBLE WAYS. MY SUGGESTIONS ARE:
  • NOT TO WRITE, BUT ONLY THINK AND THEN TRY TO SAY THEM... YOU WILL BE SURPRISED ABOUT HOW ABLE YOU ARE TO DO SO...
  • USE THE DICTIONARY FOR THE WORDS YOU DON'T KNOW AND THEN TRY TO KEEP THEM IN MIND...
  • FINALLY, REPEAT THE SENTENCES MANY TIMES.
TRANSLATE:
Sí yo fuera tu, estaría trabajando en otro lado, pero afortunadamente no lo soy porque o si no preferiría No trabajar.

Nunca debiste contarle la verdad a María, ella no es buena guardando secretos. Recuerdo una vez que le dijo a mi mama que yo no había ido al colegio.

Me doy cuenta cuan difícil es vivir solo. Cuandovivía con mi familia era más fácil porque tenía todas las cosas que necesitaba a la mano.

Tu me decepcionaste! Nunca esperé eso de ti. Sin embargo, nunca dejaré de confiar en la gente.

No me regañes!!! Se que cometí un error, pero tu ni siquiera eres mi madre para decirme como debo hacer las cosas.

DO YOUR BEST!!!

NEW VOCABULARY: LOOK UP THE MEANING OF THE FOLLOWING WORDS!!!

so-called
embrace
deride
broad
dull
remarkable
wholesale
scold
let down
tell off

HEY HERE YOU CA FIND SEVERAL DICTIONARIES SO IT CAN BE EASIER FOR YOU TO WORK, JUST TRY TO MEMORIZE THESE WORDS SINCE YOU MAY NEED TO USE THEM ANYTIME...

I HOPE YOU ENJOY DOING THE ACTIVITY AND THAT IT IS USEFUL FOR YOUR ENGLISH LEARNING PROCESS!!!  ;)

Reading

Reading is a skill as important as the other three ones (Listening-Speaking-Writing). It is necessary that pupils work on it in order to get a larger development of the communicative competence in the foreign language.

When reading students have the chance to enlarge and practise their vocabulary since it helps by giving them a sort of unknown words that they might get to manage and so to keep on improving their knowledge.

In addition, the understanding of grammar structures during the reading makes students start getting used to it, so it becomes easier for them the comprehension of texts even written or oral. So, for you to have a better fluency when speaking, try to develop all of the skills you need to do so.

You can start practising Reading...

Here is a website which has a lot of reading and interesting texts that you may like...

Improving my Communicative Skills

When learning any language we have to keep in mind that what's going to make you improve your skills is PRAXIS. It is only when we put in practise and use in our own context what we have learnt that we will be able to speak that language fluently. This has to do with our own necessity to employ what we need for our daily living.

In addition, putting in practise our knowledge helps us develop the abilities that are required to manage the language in a better way, that's why my invitation is for you to take time to study a bit harder in order to improve everyday. I'm pretty sure that if you work a little bit harder you will get the results you would like to.

In my wish to help you with that purpose here you are some links that you can use to practise your skills.
